THE CIRCLE OF LIFE

Background Image
THE CIRCLE OF LIFE

This meditation activates your internal paths of energy, the meridians, by circulating energy along the Great Central Channel of Chinese medicine.  The Circle of Life nourishes and revitalizes all aspects of your physical, mental and emotional being. It helps prepare your nervous system to handle larger quantities of high frequency energy.

The Circle of Life brings energy into your Hara, then sends it along the Great Central Channel on either the external or internal path.

Ground, center and establish boundaries.

  1. Sit comfortably with your back straight and well supported.

  2. Center, ground, and let go of tension.

  3. Relax your jaw and place your tongue lightly on the roof of your mouth. Contract your perineum as though holding your bladder.

  4. Fig 1. Fill the Hara

    • Inhale and visualize energy as light coming in through your Crown Chakra, down your Hara line to your Second Chakra below your belly button, also called the Hara or Sea of Energy where vital life force is stored.

    • Exhale tension.

    • Take three complete breaths, inhaling light into the Hara and exhaling tension. Allow your body to feel vibrant and alive.

  5. Fig 2. Establishing the Flow

    • Inhale light into your Hara,

    • Exhale, visualizing energy leaving your Hara, traveling down under your torso, up into your sacrum, up your spine, and over the top of your head.

    • Inhale energy down the centerline of your face, through your tongue, and down the front of your body,

    • Exhale curling under your torso and up your spine as before.

  6. Keep the energy flowing along this pathway until your bodymind feels awake and alive.

  7. At the completion of the meditation, draw all the energy into your Hara for storage.

When you are finished, ground, center and establish boundaries.

Variation for Calming Kundalini

  • Start the meditation by bringing energy into your coccyx instead of your Hara.

  • Continue breathing and circulating energy as above.

  • This is useful for restless legs or vibration in your coccyx, symptoms of Kundalini getting ready to rise (see Chapter Seven).

Fig 3. Variation for Activating the Inner Central Channel:

  • Inhale energy from the Earth into your Base Chakra at the bottom of your torso and draw the energy from your Base Chakra up your Hara line.

  • Exhale and visualize the energy spilling out the top of your head like a fountain.

  • Keep the circle flowing, allowing the energy to form a Torus of energy that looks like a donut. (See illustration).

Caution: It’s easy to become over-stimulated with this exercise. To avoid this, begin your practice with shorter sessions. If you do become over- stimulated, send the excess energy out of your hands and feet. With practice you will be able to handle both larger quantities and higher frequencies of energy.
